The Challenge

SmartGrid developed a mobile battery storage solution that needed to be produced in series—at scale, with consistency, and with robust mechanical and electrical integration. Each unit had to be easy to transport, quick to deploy, and simple to maintain, making production efficiency and modular design critical.

They were looking for a partner capable of turning a technically demanding product into a reliable, repeatable solution—without compromising on flexibility or quality.

Our Approach

NieuweWeme took on the complete series production of the mobile BESS units. Built inside modified 10ft containers, each system was assembled on a custom skid to simplify installation and maintenance. The skids, once fully outfitted with energy storage, power electronics, and control systems, were placed into the containers—making them easily removable for servicing or upgrades.

Our team handled both the mechanical and part of the electrical engineering, working closely with SmartGrid to align their IP with efficient production techniques. The containers were fully modified in-house, with NieuweWeme performing all required welding, cutting, and integration work. This close collaboration allowed for fast iteration, consistent quality, and a smooth production flow.
