From a container question to circular innovation: how NieuweWeme builds mobile deposit return solutions

What started as a fairly simple question about whether we could help integrate a bulk deposit return machine into a container has grown, over the past few years, into a great collaboration around mobile deposit return solutions for events, festivals, and high-traffic locations.

Together with RVM Systems and commissioned by Statiegeld Nederland, we have developed several concepts over the years. From mobile 20 ft units to the now well-known "blikje" (can collector). That last concept literally started with the remark: "If that were possible, wouldn't that be something..." to which Team NieuweWeme almost immediately responded: "We can do that."

And that is exactly where the strength of our approach lies. Not just building what is asked, but developing solutions together with the client that are sustainable, scalable, and practically deployable. Preferably with a healthy dose of creativity along the way.

All solutions are modular, compact, and prefab built. That is no coincidence. This way they can be rolled out quickly and efficiently across more and more locations, without every installation requiring custom work from scratch. The combination of smart engineering and practical deployability makes the difference, especially in a context where speed and reliability matter.

The result? Solutions that make circularity and sustainability visible to thousands of people every day. At festivals, at events, at busy locations. Not as a statement, but simply as working infrastructure that does its job.
